Bernheim Wines produces red wines from two farms in the famous Paarl region – one close to the town of Paarl and the other in the newly formed Voor Paardeberg ward, already gaining a reputation as the ward for quality wines.

Some 50 hectares are planted with the noble varietals Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinotage, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot resulting in Bernheim Wines specializing in producing outstanding quality red wines.

At the time when the three directors of Bernheim Wines had bought the property, the name for the new premium range of wines  was debated and finally agreed upon using the initials of all the people involved in this business venture: Jacques (our wine maker and director), Hermann (director), Pieter (director), Anneke (Pieter’s wife) and their three daughters, Corné, Anelise and Sonje. This resulted in the name for the premium Cabernet and Shiraz, JH Pacas.
