At the time when the three directors of Bernheim Wines had bought the property, the name for the new premium range of wines was debated and finally agreed upon using the initials of all the people involved in this business venture: Jacques (our wine maker and director), Hermann (director), Pieter (director), Anneke (Pieter’s late wife) and their three daughters, Corné, Anelise and Sonje. This resulted in the name for the premium Cabernet and Shiraz, JH Pacas.
We currently produce two wines under this premium label, the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Shiraz.
After researching into the name “Pacas”, we discovered that it is the name of a rodent found in south and central America and means “bundle of goods” in the Spanish language. This perfectly describes the two wines made under the JH Pacas label by Bernheim Wines. Tightly packed ripe fruit with enough wood to back these two full bodied, premium red wines.
